About Happy Craft Designs

Hello Everyone!

My name is Mary and I am the person behind the products at Happy Craft Designs.  I wanted to take a moment to tell you a bit about myself and how Happy Craft Designs started.

Happy Craft Designs is a small business based in Wausau, WI.  Like everyone, the pandemic has affected my life.  I am a wife and a mother to two daughters.  They are both extremely independent and growing up way too fast.  When they began virtual school in 2020, my work schedule changed as well.  I am a board certified music therapist a run a small private practice.  I also teach early childhood music classes and private lessons.  The pandemic created challenges for me professionally as many facilities were locked down, people were unsure about singing and I was unable to work as usual because my kids were both home all day.  We were very fortunate that my husband's job was not affected and that I had the flexibility to be at home with the kids.

I also love to perform!  Music and theatre have always been an important outlet for me.  It has been my way of expressing myself and my creativity.  Spoiler alert - Covid screwed that up for a while too.

So, I needed to find a new way to express my creative side (and try to keep my sanity).  I have always loved crafting and we certainly weren't going anywhere so it just seemed like a good way to keep myself busy.  As an added bonus, crafting kept me from snacking (at least a little).  My kids both love to bake and they did a lot of it being home.

So for all of these reasons, Happy Craft Designs was officially born in 2021.  I am happy that our family has been able to resume many of our activities, even if they look slightly different. My youngest daughter returned to school in-person but my oldest daughter decided to remain in virtual school.  It works for her and I am so glad that I have the flexibility to make it work.  I do drive her to school for orchestra during the week and both of my girls love swim team.  I have also returned to work as a music therapist and am so thankful that I can create a schedule that works for our family.  Also, music and theatre groups have found ways to perform safely in the last year which has been wonderful.

Thanks for taking the time to read a bit about me and my journey.  The products I sell truly are a part of me and although it may sound cheesy, they are made with love.  I make a variety of items that bring me happiness and it is my hope that they will bring you some too.

My silly family.  Life is far too short to be serious!
